Alloy Chatacteristic & Application |
|
| |
6063 L |
Easy to extrude and suitable for low strength application & sections that require surface brightness. |
6063 M |
Medium strength for general purpose architectural application and still maintain relatively high level of extrubility. |
6063 H |
High strength with slightly lower extrusion speed. Suited for application requiring 6063 T6 properties such as light structural application. |
6061 & 6082 |
Greater strength for structural and trasport application with lower extrusion speed. |

Alloy |
|
| |
6060
(AlMgSi 0.5)
|
General purpose application alloy for standard profile, architectural section, heat sink and window section. Most suited to sections where bright finished is required and F22 properties are sufficient. Widely used in continental Europe. |
6063
(AlMg 0.7Si) |
General purpose application alloy commonly used in North America, Asia, Australia and U.K. Widely used in window frames, doors, shop fronts, flyscreen, handrail, suspended ceilings, heat sink as well as electronic equipment. Both T5 and T6 temper are common. |
6061
(AlMg 1SiCu)
|
Commonly used structural alloy in building and transport industries. Typical application includes truck & bus body, trailer, I & H beams, conveyor, screw & nuts. |
|
|
| |
Temper
Astm / DIN |
|
| |
T1 F13
|
Naturally aged without solution heat treatment. High ductility with low tensile and yield strength. |
T4 |
Solution heat treated after extrusion and naturally aged. High ductility with low tensile and yield strength. Suitable for further aging to peak properties after cold work such as bending. |
T5 |
Cooled after extrusion to room temperature and artificially aged to peak mechanical properties. Suitable for general application alloy such as 600 |
F22
T6 F25
F28
|
Solution heat treated after extrusion, quenched and artificially aged to peak mechanical properties. Common temper for high strength structural alloy such as 6061 |
